Our students are starting to create decorations for the upcoming Haunted House. They have enjoyed bringing a scare to the community and look forward to taking part again this year!
Barrhead and Westlock Outreach schools wish to thank Elder Phillip Campiou with Grassland Tipi for hosting us at his home for our field trip on October 2.
We also extended sincere gratitude to Jason Jackson and Leroy Dumas for leading us through smudging, a sharing circle and Tipi building and teachings.
We enjoyed a "mountain pie" lunch, and also got to cook bannock over the fire.
We are honoured to have spent the day learning from and sharing with Jason and Leroy, and we look forward to working with Elder Campiou in the future as we continue on our path toward Truth and Reconciliation.
We just wanted to let all of our students know that on Wednesday, October 2, we will be going on our rescheduled field trip.
We will be going to the Phillip Campiou Learning Site, where one of the facilitators will be sharing his knowledge and values as he takes us on an Indigenous plant walk, teaches us how to build a tipi and helps us cook bannock over a fire.
If you are interested in coming but forgot to get your permission form in, please get one on Tuesday October 1!
This is going to be an incredible day of learning, and appreciating Mother Earth! 🍂 🌎
